I usually sit at the bar when visiting Mad Jack's, it's in a great location in Brooklyn Park and one of my favorite in the city. I do have to agree with Maxx Retro that the decor is getting dated and is in need of some upgrading. That being said it's still a kept a place with an open bar which has an inviting feeling. The TV's are decent and if there is a sporting event on they will have it going so you aren't missing any of the action. As far as the food goes, I would say it's pretty good. It's nothing that is going to blow you away but at the same time it's not bad. The staff is usually friendly and service is decent. If you are in to pull tabs, they always have a game going. I just go for the bar experience as it's a great bar for a social gathering. If you go during happy hour, they have discounted appetizers which are pretty tasty and well sized. I hope to see some decor upgrades soon. I should also add they do have a pretty nice outdoor patio during the summer time if you prefer to sit outside. The openness of the bar & good service will keep me coming back.

We've eaten here many times, food is excellent. They open a bit late for breakfast, but they do have a small breakfast menu with very tasty choices. Lunch / dinner menu I recommend the Cuban sandwich or the garbage pizza. Lots of big tvs for sports around the 2 bars. Each booth in dinning room has it's own personal small tv. Outdoor patio / bar has great fireplace, and live music on weekends.

Everything was A-OK. Tonight was my second visit, and again, everything was fine. I was a little nervous because some of the reviews were pretty bad. The food was okay but unmemorable. The service was good. The crowd was pretty weird. It was definitely an odd assortment of people both times I was here. The decor is also a little dated--literally. The tables in the bar have tops with etched metal inlays. It looks like they originally had a protective coating that's now yellowing, coming off, and sticky. They probably looked great when they were brand new. But now they just look gross, like they desperately need to be replaced or refinished. -Daddy Maxx Retro

Visiting MN and craving walleye. Timing made us eat at Mad Jack's in Brooklyn Park. Ordered walleye here. What a joke. It was old, fishy and inedible. You would expect a restaurant to sample their food before they decide to add it to a menu. My 6 year old could make a better tartar sauce. Not sure how you can mess up nachos, but this restaurant did. They also messed up chicken tenders. Their Asian salad was beyond nasty. I would continue the drive to ANY other restaurant. Someone in our party ordered the rotisserie chicken and that was good. One out of seven plates of food was edible.

I eat there every now and then because it's close to home, it's comfortable and cozy, not too expensive and the food is alright. The atmosphere is nice. It's somewhat dark and cozy, which I like. If you get a booth, most likely you will have a TV built into the wall, which is convenient. But there's also TV's around the whole place mostly. The parking lot always looks jam-packed but there always seems to be room inside. The food is decent. Not amazing, but not terrible either. The price isn't too crazy expensive or anything either, which is nice. The service I've had there, over multiple occasions, was GREAT. Most of the times I have been there, a higher-up (manager? supervisor? head-chef?) brings the food out to the table... which is sooo classy. I love receiving my food straight from someone important. The one time there was trouble with my food, he gave me my meal for free. I've never drank at the bar, but we walked through last time and ended up out on a patio that had it's own outside bar and fireplace. Cool! Although the bartender snapped at us for something minor. **(My dad joked aloud it would be amazing to pull a whole table right up and basically into the fire-pit to stay warm, and the bartender snapped at us to omg-dont-move-the-tables!... even though we didn't even touch one and we were just passing through. It was rude and embarrassed my poor dad.)** All in all, I will probably eat there again because of the reasons I have described. If I lived farther away I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go here, but if you're passing through it's a decent option.

Adequate, no part of my family's meal stood out as above average. There were some low points however. My wife ordered the French onion soup which arrived lukewarm, with pale cheese melted over top no brown at all. The Jacks killer combo came with a bland vegetable combo and some odd tasting garlic mashed potatoes. If you're not picky and want a bite you could stop here, but I know there is a better option right up the road.

Very friendly, sat us right away Hangover hamburger was awesome, very good onion rings. Others had the chicken salad and loved it . Will definitely come back.

Enjoy their karaoke Saturday nights! Great host and extensive song selection!! Their breakfast (We've tried the Rehab) is to die for! Also, the Blu Cheese burger is quite tasty.

I was hesitant about entering this place because of the "chain" restaurant outside but after the service, the phenomenal Bloody Mary(s) and the best breakfast pizza I have ever eaten was served, I was sold. The A/C was a little extreme, but everything else made up for that. And Home Alone was playing on the mini-TV at our booth. Great spot and excellent Happy Hour specials; beers for $2.50.

I gave this place a few chances but was just never impressed. No bad experiences but never enjoyed any of the meals. Too many places around to keep giving this one a try.

I'll admit that I didn't have very high expectations and the only reason I found myself here was because the bf wanted some place nearby (I live in brooklyn center) with breakfast and a bloody Mary bar to celebrate his recent good news. From the outside, you have no idea how the inside is going to look. They have the most bizarre exterior. The door looked like it was boarded up, but once you get inside, it isn't so bad. We were informed that the bloody bar was no longer available, but they did have an Ultimate Bloody Mary on special for 6.99. Hmmm, ultimate, eh? I could dig that. It was actually pretty good. It came with a beef stick, string cheese, shrimp, pepperocini, olive, and of course pickle. Not as spicy as I like it, but oh well. Food was decent. The bf got the breakfast burrito And I got the soup and sandwich deal. I got the turkey sandwich with baked potato soup. Sandwich was passable. Reg turkey meat on white bread with lettuce. I will admit that I haven't had white bread for more over five years now, so I did giggle a little eating it down. They don't give you an option for wheat either. Soup was good, but not good enough that I would order it again. They put bacon in it and there are nice chunks of potato in it. Bf's burrito was a lot better than my stuff. First, it was massive. Like my head massive. It was full of greasy, amazing goodness. He even insisted that they had put "some kind of fancy cheese" that he couldn't name because its taste was so distinct. He had just finished a bloody Mary on an empty stomach...... Service was good, but on the slower side..... Which was sorta disappointing since there were only two other groups and we could see and hear the service staff laughing and talking in the kitchen entryway.

Can not believe how much has changed with this place since my last review. No more great happy hours and the whole atmosphere itself seems to have changed. That being said it is always a popular place in Brooklyn Park (as it is one of the ONLY sports bars in the area), so there is never a lack of people. The food is fairly decent as well.

Ordered steak rare; it came raw and cold. Manager only offered to replace it (no comp). Replacement didn't arrive until after I had eaten all the rest of the food (so - so) and the people I was with were all done and ready to go; took the steak in a "go" box. Applebee's is much better with food quality, service, and comp if something does go wrong (rarely).

The environment is my favorite part of this place. Good people and staff. Last year they took a lot of items off the menu, raised prices quite a bit, and cut some happy hour deals. Food is nothing special but it's good. Burgers are in my opinion the highlight of the menu.

Came in around 10 which I know is late but they were still open and there was no one to greet us or seat us. So we asked the bartender to grab the hostess. She seats us and proceeds to disappear for 15 mins, we order some apps and order a bowl of cream of chicken wild rice soup. The soup comes first of course, my friend didn't like the soup it was watery and not creamy as he expected. When the waitress came back with the rest of the apps he told her he didn't like it when she asked. Next the manager comes over, not to apologize for the soup but to reprimand us by saying we can't expect the soup to be the same everyday and that he won't charge us for the$3 soup but that going forward if we order soup we can't have expectations and that he won't comp us if we don't like it. Never once In his whole rant did he say I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the soup, all in all I was very upset for being yelled at for not liking the soup. Never going here again service was bad and management should take a class in business 101 customer is always right and even if their wrong you don't ever reprimand them for complaining.

So because my daughter likes the food & i was having a great day I decided to give them another try & on an empty night I ended up waiting for a table for 10 minutes while the staff laughed it up while pretending my daughter and I were invisible. Once again... crappy customer service. Am i supposed to be happy paying for mediocre food while the staff acts as if theyre doing me a favor? Or maybe this really is Wonderland & Ive forgotten that my name is Alice! Mad Jacks, Brooklyn Park is definitely on my "Never stepping a foot in there to not even use the bathroom again" list!

So I got a Southwest Chicken wrap for lunch yesterday... And I was just trying to be nice so I picked them out.. But whomever deboned the rotisserie chicken didn't do a very good job. There were equal parts bone and chicken in that wrap which was disappointing because it really was good! The service here is impeccable and the prices are fair, but what's the point of hanging out and eating if the simplest of tasks are apparently too difficult for the cooks to complete.

You get what you deserve if you eat here. Premium priced menu but service and food quality does not match prices. Saturday lunch, two weeks before Christmas. Manager told me they were short staffed. During lunch on one of the busiest shopping days of the year? My Newcastle Ale was terrific and they know how to serve french fries- everything else in the way of food was subpar quality, flavor. Examples: Boneless chicken wings $10.00 for typical food service generic wings. Breakfast special french toast- again $9.00 for two thick cut slices with food service strawberry syrup- served cold. Thats $10.00 for two pieces of bread folks. Manager kindly replaced with burger and fries- fries perfect, burger hurried and way undercooked-went uneaten. Who serves a medium rare burger? My barbeque flatbread pizza-guess what happens when you serve a flatbread on a plate? Soggy and cold. Suggestion: No one wants to hear excuses. Get an expediter/quality control person to check the food before it leaves the kitchen. At these prices, people deserve better.

I recommend not using a credit card here, they will charge other peoples tabs onto your card, even days after you were there. Some friends & I went in on a Saturday night. We did get in right away, but it took our waitress over 30 minutes just to get our drinks. We ordered food and before we placed our orders we asked that the checks be separate. Food came fairly fast, but items were cold, undercooked, or just missing. This is when I think the waitress just forgot about us. She sat at a table near us talking with some friends of hers, she completely ignored us. We had to go to the bar to order more drinks, the bartender had to go get our waitress a couple times to let her know we were waiting for our checks. When we finally got our tabs, the tabs all came on one, so we asked the waitress again to separate them. She asked if someone at our table could write down for her who had what, we did and finally got all of our tabs. I paid my tab on my credit card it came to $34 and I gave her $6 tip (which I thought was generous, due to the horrible service) All my friends at the table handed her their credit cards too, she had 4 checks and 4 credit card, she returned we all signed the receipts and left. I wish that was the last time I had to deal with them, until I opened my bank account a few days later to find 2 charges from Mad Jacks. I had my $34 charge but also a $57 charge. When I call and talk to the manager, he claims that the waitress said someone else didn't pay their tab so she just charged me. First off this is illegal and everyone at my table paid. So the manager says he will take care of it and remove the charge that wasn't mine. I look at my bank account again and now have a charge from Mad Jacks for $91, so at this point I have paid $180 for a $34 tab. Needless to say the manager was a complete jerk. I ended up canceling my card to stop payment to them. I had to get a whole new account. Never heard an apology either!!

Stopped in here for a drink and an appetizer at 4pm on 8/19, and was very disappointed. I sat at the bar and the bartender was way more interested in talking to one of his buddies than serving anyone else at the bar - including the wait staff. I was finally able to order a Bloody Mary (I've had better), and it was served without a napkin - no offer to see a menu, and then the bartender was gone again. He did not come by again until after my drink was gone. Had to wait to pay my tab. Nobody greeted me when I came in, or when I left. Drove through Arby's to get something to eat!

You walk in. You are greeted and seated and they place looks nice. It has a great atmosphere. The menu has many tasty looking things on it. Everything I have ordered though has not been that great. I expected more with the food. Cost is spendy too.

Good food, good service, great interior, great selection. Definitely more of an upscale sports bars. TV's at each table if you like that sort of thing. I just think it would be distracting. We went in an off-peak time, so it was pretty quiet, but I could imagine this place being loud if it was full. Very awesome corn bread! Everyone I was with really liked the food and I had a tough time deciding what to get, because everything on the menu looked so good.

OK. Mad Jack's probably serves the BEST Bloody Mary in the Twin Cities metro - Citypages "best of", please take note! However, great Bloody Mary or not, there is no excuse for the excessively LOUD hard rock and roll music they play. It is impossible to digest food while being jarred out of your seat by the kitchen staff's awful taste in music. This week my husband and I walked into the restaurant shortly after it opened. It was quiet, no music playing and we were the only patrons in the restaurant. After we sat down and opened the menus, the manager turned on heavy metal music, which he cranked up so loud, it felt as if we were at the Target Center. The music sounded like it had been inspired by thoughts of suicide. At least that's how it made me feel when I listened to it. We asked them to turn it down, and they copped an attitude. This was not the first time that's happened to us while dinning there - mind you, we were at a booth, not in the bar. What is the point of having a personal television at your booth if you can't hear it?? The food at MJ's is pretty good, but the crappy management, and the redneck nurturing environment make it nearly impossible to remain there for more than 10 minutes--unless of course you're a redneck.

Came here for the Vikings vs. Packers MNF game. The place was crowded, as expected. At least they thought ahead to make sure they had adequate staff scheduled. The food was meh. Your typical bar food. We ordered most of their appetizer menu - sweet potatoes fries, potato skins, sirloin strips(?), pizza, chicken wings...the usual. Waitress didn't really listen to what we ordered, so we had to ask repeatedly for stuff. Didn't blame her though because the place was packed. My biggest complaint about this place would be lack of parking and TV signal. There's overflow parking, but for a restaurant this big, they really do need more space. There shouldn't be the need for a separate lot. I'm sure they really can't fix this given they're surrounded by other business. They had small TVs at every booth and large ones everywhere. First of all, I was pretty disappointed that they didn't have the game on HD. They couldn't figure out what channel they needed to turn it to. Seriously? You're a sports bar! The small TVs had HD on them because they weren't through the satellite like the large screens were. That presented another problem, our feed on the small TVs were much faster than the ones on the large TV. We basically had to watch the game on the small TV and knew what was happening during the game before most people in the bar did. I think they need to get that fixed. Most people there weren't amused that we'd cheer for the touchdown when all they saw was the play starting. :) On good thing though, cheap beer specials. $2 dollar beers. Selected kinds. Oh well. We put it to good use....49 glasses later!

Mad Jack's is my favorite place to eat in Brooklyn Park. The food is always fresh and the drinks are always good (try the Jacked up Punch and the Flat Bread Pizza). I love the outdoor patio in the summer and a few nights I have been there they have had live music. It is typically very busy (specifically weekends), but if you are looking for a fun place to eat in the BP than Mad Jacks is the place to go. Each booth/table has a TV too - may be good to distract the kids or watch the big game!

One of the better places in Brooklyn Park, but it doesn't face stiff competition. They have a decent happy hour and I really like their pizza, it's a light flaky crust and surprisingly good. If for some unknown reason in the area, it's worth a stop.

Mad Jack's is OK...it's right by my church-so we find ourselves here a lot (What? Doesn't everyone go to a bar after church?) They have awesome fries-that's what we like. They also have pretty good chili and have good happy hour specials.

I am quite a fan of Mad Jack's! I've been there at least a handful of times and I've never had bad service or not liked something I ordered. The other day I got the artichoke chicken sandwich with fries and YUM! The artichoke spread was delicious and it really made the sandwich! I've also had the buffalo chicken salad, chicken wings, and margherita and caprese flat breads - and I'd recommend all of them! Also - the fruity drinks won't disappoint!!!

NOTE: Their late night happy hour NOW starts at 10pm. Apparently they don't know how to update their website. We were loyal Mad Jacks customers (we love their flatbread pizzas and great patio), but they won't honor the zillions of advertised late night happy hour times. We asked our server to honor it since its on their website, but she refused.

I really enjoy going to Mad Jacks. The outside seating and bar is fantastic. I have never been disappointed by the food and have tried various options. Today was the first time I went and received mediocre service. I sat outside and had to get my own soda refill. When I was finished with my meal, the waitress walked away without asking if I wanted a box for my leftovers. When she came back to give me a box, she left empty-handed leaving the plates and cups behind. I don't like to nitpick, but if I'm going to pay $40 for a meal and some drinks I'd appreciate a little bit more attention to the table. Otherwise, I will continue to go to Mad Jacks because I enjoy it there.

This place is exactly what you are looking for in a local bar. Decent food that is made to order. Beer and drinks that are served with a smile. The down side is it is on the pricier side of local bars. But I guess everything is more expensive in Minnesota. I generally go in the afternoons for happy hour and enjoy the bar crowd there.

First time being here and the mood is mellow but vibrant. Bathrooms are clean and the bartender is courteous. Just looking at the wall I can see their food specials (mon-thur).

Pretty decent atmosphere for a bar in brooklyn Park. I live really close to this place. So its a good destination to go to. When I feel like going out for drinks. I do enjoy their pizzas. They have good late night specials at night. A good mix of age here. Lots of tv's to stare at.
